Science
Our focus for science is led by our desire for the children to learn science that will be important for their whole lives and our connections to the local area, in particular, our forest school and farming community.Â
We want our children to learn how to lead healthy lives so knowing about diet, exercise, cleanliness, human development and common illnesses is of prime importance. Science, coupled with our school meals, PE, PSHE and RSE, develop a holistic approach to learning.Â
Additionally, we want the children to have knowledge and concern for the environment and to develop a passion for our area including the wildlife and the local habitats. Through our science and forest school learning children will learn how to protect the world and why.Â
How we teach Science
We follow a STEM style learning to encourage ingenuity and creativity leading to new ideas and innovations.  To succeed in life, students have to be able to apply what they have learned to a variety of scenarios. STEM education teaches them to adapt the concepts that they learn in various ways. Â
Children are given knowledge organisers at the beginning of a topic to support with their learning. These can be found on the class pages.
