Religious Education

Moreton is a Voluntary Aided primary school.  This means that it was founded by the Church of England and was paid for by the Rector and people of the village, almost 200 years ago.  Nowadays, this means - amongst other things - that the school follows the Chelmsford Diocese scheme of work for RE.

The Diocesan scheme covers Christianity in a good level of depth and also includes knowledge of other religions.  Children are encouraged to make up their own mind about spirituality and faith and not to be afraid of thinking about big questions, to which answers do not come easily.

Throughout their time at Moreton, children will also experience Godly Play, an exploratory form of learning about faith, through our trained practitioners.  Children also have an opportunity to visit Chelmsford Cathedral.

Please see our RE policy for further information.
